2009 REACH Locations

Thailand has an ancient culture mixed with western influence. After language study, this team will focus on friendship evangelism. Opportunities include teaching conversational English, partnering with our long term workers in an effort to reach out to children, single moms that are coming in off the street, prostitutes, and university students.

USA The United States of America is a land with a rich spiritual heritage that is steadily being eroded. Although 86.5% of the USA’s population professes Christianity, many people only know about God but do not know Him personally. This team will spend approximately half of their outreach in St. Louis working with World Impact, an organization that focuses on ministering to the inner city poor. They will spend the rest of their outreach touring as a ministry team encouraging churches and youth groups through drama and music.

North Africa In this area of North Africa, the people have a pride in their country as a center for Islamic learning and heritage. Converts to Christianity are often persecuted for their faith. Only about 5% of the population have ever met a Christian or heard the Gospel. This team will spend the first part of outreach in language school building relationships with the local people. Outreach possibilities include helping at an orphanage, teaching English, encouraging and helping long-term workers in their outreach endeavors.

Zambia This outreach is for the brave at heart. Severe drought and the HIV/AIDS pandemic have wreaked havoc on the Zambian people. This team will help at an orphanage/school for HIV/AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children. The school has few resources and equipment but is faithfully doing their best to provide medical, emotional, spiritual, and physical care to 300 children and their families. This team will be roughing it. They will probably encounter scorpions and cobras. There is nothing plush about this outreach but… the need is great.

Turkey is rich in culture and history, and is considered a crossroads to the Middle East and Europe. This team will spend time in language school followed by several possible outreach options including: assisting a local church with refugee outreach, teaching conversational English, relational evangelism, helping facilitate Turkish dramas, and assisting our long term workers in established ministries.

Spain Although Spain has had access to the Gospel for centuries, it is part of the growing unreached population of Europ. After language study, this team will be working on friendship evangelism through building relationships with university students, immigrants, and possibly a gym/coffee house ministry.

India is mostly Hindu with a sizeable Muslim population. It is an ancient land full of striking contrast between the rich and poor, the colorful and mundane, and the mountains and deserts. There are many outreach possibilities for this team including: working with orphanages, reaching out to HIV victims, teaching conversational English, discipling new believers, and working with Youth With A Mission.

Madagascar is the fourth largest island and one of the poorest countries in the world. It is mountainous and tropical. This team will spend half of its time helping to build airstrips for Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF), an organization that seeks to provide relief for people in remote villages. The other half of their time will be spent helping with medical safaris, working with medical aid via hovercraft, helping in an orphanage, and teaching English.
