Our Faithful God

If you've been anywhere near SEND Ministries lately, you know we are undergoing major transition within our department. Karen Yoder ended her time as SEND administrative assistant in July and Ashley Koppenhaver has taken her place. Today is the last day for both myself and Austin Beachy. Courtney Miller is succeeding me as the new SEND assistant director and has been with us since mid-August. Brian and Brittany Troyer, the new SEND program facilitators, will be arriving mid-September. This transition of personnel is taking place at what seems like the worst time of year, amidst the flurry of preparation for REACH DTS which starts tomorrow, Aug 31, 2013. Emotions are a little strung out, to-do lists are never ending, and there's this sense that we are probably forgetting something important.
This morning during our worship time with SEND staff interns, REACH team leaders, and SEND personnel, we listened to the song "Never Once" by Matt Redman.

On my last day, I'm taking time to stand on this mountaintop and see how far we've come knowing that God has been with us every step of the way. I'm kneeling on this battle ground seeing just how much God has done. I know that every victory was his power in us. Sure, there have been scars and struggles along the way, but with joy my heart can say:

Never once did we ever walk alone
Never once did You leave us on our own
You are faithful, God, You are faithful

The reminder of God's faithfulness brings strength and joy to me personally in the midst of this transition. I don't know what is next for me. I handed in my resignation earlier this year, not because of strife or for a better job offer. My husband, Tim, and I were sensing that God was saying my time with RMM was coming to a close and that as we walked forward in obedience he would show us the next step. We still don't know what that next step is for Team Hendren. However, we have experienced more peace, freedom, and joy than we ever imagined as we have obeyed and kept our hearts, minds and identity rooted in Christ.

Don't get me wrong, I've definitely been a hot mess along the way; I've caved in to fear occasionally. But the big idea is that God is the steady One in our relationship with him. Never once will we ever walk alone. We are carried by his constant grace and held within his perfect peace. He will not leave us on our own. Friends, God is faithful. Stop where you are for a moment and let that truth sink in: God is faithful. May this truth set you free to walk through the transitions of life with courage, joy, and peace.
