Our Faithful God

If you've been anywhere near SEND Ministries lately, you know we are undergoing major transition within our department. Karen Yoder ended her time as SEND administrative assistant in July and Ashley Koppenhaver has taken her place. Today is the last day for both myself and Austin Beachy. Courtney Miller is succeeding me as the new SEND assistant director and has been with us since mid-August. Brian and Brittany Troyer, the new SEND program facilitators, will be arriving mid-September. This transition of personnel is taking place at what seems like the worst time of year, amidst the flurry of preparation for REACH DTS which starts tomorrow, Aug 31, 2013. Emotions are a little strung out, to-do lists are never ending, and there's this sense that we are probably forgetting something important.

What is an Ambassador?

cr18.jpg

We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
(2 Corinthians 5:20, NIV)

What is an ambassador? It's a person whose purpose and goal is to represent the kingdom they belong to. Their goal is to communicate to others the intentions and position of that kingdom. An ambassador doesn't promote their personal agenda, but rather does anything possible to strengthen and protect the kingdom they represent. As Christ's followers, we understand that this should be our goal. God has called us to represent him and to be his hands and feet. It seems like far too often, however, we get caught up in the craziness of life and our hectic schedules and lose focus on our "appointment" as ambassadors for Jesus.

On July 3, our youth group began our experience at City Challenge in Columbus, Ohio. We had spent several days in Kentucky doing service projects in a local community prior to arriving. While in Kentucky, God was already at work preparing our hearts for what was to come at City Challenge. It didn't take long after our arrival at the Rosedale International Center for us to realize that God was at work and He was going to grow us by stretching us. The staff greeted us with much excitement and enthusiasm, and the depth of their genuine joy became quite evident to everyone in our group. It was clear that their excitement and enthusiasm was heartfelt.

What love the Father has lavished on us!

Greeting to you all! I hope this finds you all doing well with thankful hearts.  Weeks three and four have flown by! Last week was the normal schedule of sessions and team activities.  A few Saturdays ago some of us got to go out to our neighbors and hand out cookies again which was a blessing for us.  There was a lady that we listened to for about 30 minutes.  She was very comical and loved to talk. Thursday of last week was my birthday!! It was a great day filled with people I love.  The Lord has blessed me with being one year older.  That weekend, my parents came out to visit me which was such a blessing to get to see them again.  The REACHers have gotten settled in nicely and I think I can vouch for them in saying they feel very at home here.  I have become attached to them and am thankful to call them my friends.  We are pleased to call Brittany (Brian's wife) a part of the SEND director team now also, as she and Brian are sharing the role of Program Facilitator.

REACH has started!!

Greetings to all from the RIC! Well, we have had quite the busy last 2 weeks. The REACHers have arrived! Hooray! It has been great having the RIC full of people! We have been preparing and getting excited for their arrival, and now they are here! It's hard to believe that they've been here for 2 weeks already. I have a feeling dts is going to fly right by. I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone and I can't wait for relationships to grow stronger, with each other and with God. We have a great bunch of REACHers this year and I am excited to see them learn more about missions, their teams and themselves. It's an exciting time!
